Love Addict

There's a reason why some self-help and support groups that help people with alcohol and drug addiction try to stay anonymous. Not everyone wants the world to know about their private business and all their dirty laundry. The last thing they want is to have some lecherous Lesbian showing up at a love and sex addicts meeting gawking and winking at the hot girls while handing out condoms to all the men.

A Rally Against "Don't Say Gay" Bill

oakridgers_rally

In Tennesse, a rally was organized following the bill of a legislator, senator Stacey Campfield, wishing to ban educators from teaching children about homosexuality.

The rally took place Thursday in Oak Ridge to oppose this discriminatory proposal.

"Not talking about this issue hides it and makes it worse," said Katherine Carow, an Oak Ridge High School junior and vice president of the school's Gay Straight Alliance.

Oak ridger reports that "rally organizers had expected a vote on the bill, SB 49, in the Tennessee Senate on Thursday, but it has been delayed a week. In the meantime, rally organizers urged people to call their state senators to oppose the bill.

Teachers, students, parents, clergy, and community leaders gave short speeches and held signs with slogans such as "Stand on the Side of Love" and "It's okay to say gay."

Organizers Of The First Gay Pride In Montenegro Are Worried

images

In Montenegro, the first Gay Pride will take place May 31st in Podgorica but organizers are worried.

Even if the Prime Minister Igor Luksic supports the Gay Pride ("in favor of the human rights rather than a specific walk in favor of homosexual people" as he said), the other members of the gouvernment are against it and the organizers worry to see violences.

Zdravko Cimbaljevic, person in charge of the first non-governmental organization in Montenegro especially dedicated to the defense of the LGBT rights, regrets a “lack a sufficient political support, which means that the safety of the walk will not be assured”.

“We are confronted to an enormous pressure and people who support us are less and less numerous”, he adds.

Montenegro is a very traditional country and sexual minorities prefer discretion, fearing to be victims of aggressions. They do not trust in addition the authorities to protect them.
According to recent surveys, 70% of the population thinks homosexuality is a disease and 80% estimates that it is a private affair.

US Army's Training To Accept Gays And Lesbians

162018_179531625399207_2203140_n

The training of the US Marines to open the troops to lesbians and gays started. Yes, they need to be trained for that...

What kind of training are they doing? It is actually funny to imagine that they follow a formation considering scenarios such as seeing a colleague in a gay bar or hearing locker-room jokes aimed at gay colleagues as reports an associated press.

“You remain obligated to follow orders that involve interaction with others who are gay or lesbian, even if an unwillingness to do so is based on strong, sincerely held moral or religious beliefs,” the training material states.

The ban "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" will not be lift until military chiefs say the law will not harm military readiness.

(en FR)

In Strasbourg (France) the LGBT center “the Station” will open before the end of the year.

“It missed a place of visibility in Strasbourg,” explains Irene Tabellion, president of association the Moon and vice-president of the collective for the LGBT Center, “We have the chance to have dense and active associative activities,” she adds, “it seemed logical to create a place to share our work”.

“Together, to be more visible” will be the currency of the center.

“The new structure will not have the role to replace the work of existing associations but to be a platform of mutualisation of competences”.

“It will be a place of visibility, exchange and division” with in particular a media library and the organization of a festival.

“The place will make it possible to LGBT people to have a place where they will not be judged and where they will be able to feel safe”. It will be “a place of listening, of prevention but also of information on health and rights”.
